Described as a 'timeless work of Tudor history', Knowlton was built in 1585 by Sir Thomas Peyton Baronetcy; the estate became the property of Sir John Narborough in the 18th century before being passed to the D'Aeth family in the 19th century.

At its heart a working farm and Estate, Knowlton has been under the stewardship of the Fox-Pitt family for over a century. One of Britain's best-known equestrian families, the Fox Pitts share a passion for agriculture, environment, conservation and preservation, and are committed to seeing the Knowlton carefully handed to the next generation.
