There is an abundance of things to do in Kent for families of all ages.
From zoo days out to exploring castles, we can promise you will never be bored!
Here are just a few of our favourite things to do.
WILD ANIMAL PARKS
Howletts Wild Animal Park
(15mins) and is sister park, Port Lympne (35mins), differ from conventional zoos as
their focus is firmly on endangered species. Take the day to explore beautifully cared for animals within magnificent
settings. Each park also boasts cafes and adventure playgrounds for children; Port Lympe also offers a safari experience.
Wingham Wildlife Park (15mins) is a particular favourite of ours. Smaller than the others, it has undergone a programme
of investment and boasts 200 species, some of which cannot be seen anywhere else in the world. There is also a new permanent dinosaur
exhibition of 29 life-like dinosaur models, which bring the prehistoric era of the dinosaurs to life!
CASTLES AND KEEPS
Dover Castle is magnificent, sitting atop of the town looking down on the port and to the sea beyond. A 'proper' castle, with turrets and keeps,
this English Heritage treasure has regular events as well as a permanent exhibit of the 'Secret Wartime Tunnels' which gives an insight into
the World War II operations that played such a pivotal part in the war effort. Great for young and old alike.
There are also beautifully-preserved English Heritage castles at Deal
and Walmer.
Leeds Castle is slightly further afield (50mins) and has been described as the 'loveliest castle in the world', and as well as exploring its
maze and grounds, climbers can GoApe in the treetop challenge!
DREAMLAND
This iconic theme park in the centre of Margate has undergone a multi-million pound investment recently. Lovingly-restored vintage rides
are set against the backdrop of the beach and adventurous street food from around the world is served from vintage trucks and unique bars.
As well as rollercoasters and ghost trains, there is plenty of fun for little ones, with smaller rides and pop-up entertainment throughout the park.
